Mine was this '74 Buick Century. It was $820 off the back lot at Don Stein Buick on Metcalf. I fixed up a bunch of stuff on it, and I really did love it. It was beat to death in a hail storm, and the insurance totaled it. I reluctantly sold it, but still miss it to this day. What was yours?

'52 Studebaker Commander is what I learned to drive first. My own first car was the cheapest Chevrolet in the weekend paper, a '57 Chevy wagon for $75. My future SIL co-signed the title. The new battery and related tow bill 2 days later cost more than the purchase price. The powerglide grenaded 8 months later and I traded it for a 1-channel home 8-track.

My first car was a 1966 Chevy Malibu with 35,000 miles. I purchased the car in 1989 (senior year) from my Great Grand Father. He purchased the car new in 66 and truly used it for church and groceries. The car was ermine white and he ordered it with the bucket seats and center shifter. Unfortunately he also ordered the 230 straight six hooked to the 2 speed power glide transmission, but looking back maybe that's why it survived being my first car (2speed power glide). The car also had the factory radio delete, but after market air was added. Right before he sold me the car he brought it into the shop for a new carburetor and exhaust. The bill totaled $800.00 and he told me to pay the bill to take the car. It was great going around corners listening to the old bias ply tires barking aloud. It was a great car and carried my through the early years of college. I wish I could have kept it, but it was starting to get rot under the windshield and water was coming in through the dash messing up the carpet. The doors and quarter panels were also starting to rust fairly quickly and I knew I didn't have the means to properly fix her. I wound selling the car to a room mate thinking one day I will get her back. That day hasn't arrived yet but I do search ebay from time to time for the right project.

Also painted the drums a redish orange man I was cool. Being a super beetle it had struts in the front. Ahh fun little car them bugs are. I ended up owning 4 of them.

My first car was a 1942 Chevy Sedan Deluxe. Six banger, three on the tree, it was a tank. Also had a vacuum tube radio that worked, in the car. Floor boards were rusted through and had plywood on the floors. No seat belts or turn signals, a lot of good time and memories in that old car....

...'52 Studebaker Commander is what I learned to drive first... Small world. My first car was a 40 dollar, non-running, '52 Studebaker Commander. It was yellow and had a V8 with an automatic transmission. Tried painting it fire engine red with lacquer using a brush. Yeah, yeah I know... but I was all of 15 at the time. I did get it running and traded it for a '54 Ford when I got my license.

1984 Honda Accord LX sedan. Charcoal grey exterior, light grey interior.
It was a hand-me-down from my parents. Nevertheless, I was thrilled just to have my own ride. It had a terrible vacuum leak that caused it to idle too high (1500-1800 RPM lol). This in turn caused the transmission case to crack from being put into drive at those high RPMs.....TWICE! I knew nothing about repairing cars at that time so I just drove it into the ground.
By the time I took it to the pick-n-pull it had a saggy headliner, a leaky trunk that was always full of water, and it barely ran. But I did learn the value of maintaining your car and fixing a small problem before it became a big one with that car.

My first car to actually own myself was a 1950 Olds Dynamic 88. Belonged to an old neighbor lady who had really, really trashed it out. I paid $50 for it, spent about a week just cleaning the interior and polishing the paint. I was only 13 yrs old but lived on a ranch way out in the country so my folks let me drive it around the place. I kept that thing for about 2 yrs and loved it but found a way better car at a little mom and pop car lot and traded. That car was a 1958 Ford that I still have. Hasn't ran since 1966...but I still have it.

My first car Was a 77 Celica GT. My dad paid $134 for it. Not sure how they came to that number? We got it running pretty easy and beat the frontend back surprizing good. Drove it for a year while I worked on the first car I bought myself. Paid $400 and got it home christmas eve of 1986. A 1965 Chevelle. I still have it and am going to roll it in the garage as soon as wifey cleans out a couple of things.
